SharePoint Custom Solutions
SAI product offerings has a catalog of 12 SharePoint applications built on SAI SharePoint Workspace Suite, our custom SharePoint Application development framework. When there is a requirement to build a new SharePoint
application, SAI delivery model can confirm that the SharePoint solutions developed are available on time with quality. SAI SharePoint methodology is based on our
framework and extensively uses the available SAI Web Parts and Features.
SAI SharePoint development is based on our experience and Microsoft best practices.
Since the development implements on our standard SAI SharePoint framework, the applications
are extensible and easier to maintain by the clients after the development phase.
Deliverables include SharePoint sites as Site definitions, Web Parts as Features
and full documentation of the project, allowing the client to manage the project

Web Part development
SAI Web Part offerings ranges across End User Collaboration, Data and Content Management, Business Intelligence and Portal Administration. SAI Web Parts are the building blocks of SAI Workspace Suite, out Application framework development. Based on our experience, most of the requirements can be addressed by customizing the existing SAI Web Parts and when there is a requirement to build a new Web Part, SAI consultants can analyze the requirements and develop the Web Parts in an efficient way. SAI Web Parts can be deployed easily on any SharePoint site following our custom Feature Installation and Deployment tool.
SharePoint Branding
Company corporate branding is enforced on all SharePoint applications, so there
is a standard look and feel across all applications. Menu and navigation is customized
by ASP 2.0 menu taking advantage of SharePoint Site Map and hence SharePoint security
is still followed. Multiple site themes functionality can be provided and switched
based on time or some user defined event. Custom master page, layouts or templates
will be developed and integrated with Site templates, so all the Sites created can
take advantage of the branding initiative.
'My Sites' was customized for one of our clients to include the following custom functionalities.
- Custom Master Page, so any existing and new ‘My Sites’ to use the new Master Page.
- Quick Launch menu was replaced by custom ASP 2.0 menu and bound to the SharePoint Site Map. The custom menu to provide auto collapse and current site selection functionality.

InfoPath and Workflow development
SAI can analyze your existing process and its interdependent functions to rapidly and effectively implement forms-based SharePoint Work Flow. Microsoft InfoPath combined with Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF) provides a rich application framework for the businesses to connect people, system and data while following the intended business rules for compliance or requirements.
SAI helps clients achieve "paperless environment" by integrating InfoPath Forms
Services, designated electronic forms for easier data collection and for efficient
integration with business workflow. SAI can migrate the existing Microsoft Word
forms to InfoPath forms, so the data can be stored in SharePoint libraries for future
reporting.
InfoPath forms can be used to interact with processes at a task-level, kick-off processes, or used to interact with business entity data. Daily business
activities like vacation request or expense approval are automated with the use
of InfoPath to collect data and Workflow to validate business rules and route the
request for approval. Policies, or rules, are built into the processes and tagged with InfoPath to ensure that work does not hit a bottleneck. Escalation, for example, will
reroute a work item to another person if someone’s sick day or vacation is holding
up the process.

Resource Request System for an Investment Bank
Extranet Portal for the sales force team of an Investment Bank was developed on SAI Workspace Suite and rolled out in less than 3 weeks. The Portal handles
the RFP request from Consultants or other Broker firms. Application was hosted on
a secure DMZ site allowing the authorized external sales resources to communicate
with their internal liaison allowing the requests to be routed to various parties
like Analyst, Portfolio Managers or Client Services.
InfoPath based Electronic forms were used for obtaining and routing the information
across various users. Custom workflow based on SAI Workflow components (WWF component)
were used for intelligent and load balanced routing of the requests. SAI Rollup
Web Part was used to provide Dashboard information for department heads (gathers
and displays information from multiple sites) and SAI Calendar Web Part provides
department and team wise appointments, and color coded based on the request type or the value of the proposal requested.
